A Night at the Shore
Listen quietly the rain
murmuring its wet refrain
falls and calls my name aloud
thunder from a rainbow'd cloud.
Wind is waiting for its cue
to dance with rain in pas de deux.
As lightning bathes the stage in light,
evening settles into night.
In my own private passion play
I spread my wings to join the fray,
flying high above the sea
in endless sensibility.
I'm partnered first by wind then rain,
a whirling, swirling hurricane,
reeling, never feeling pain,
now heading back to earth again.
God's cymbals crash above the sea
to celebrate this symphony,
the waves in perfect harmony
with rain and wind and God and me.
